Presley told TODAY that the hardest part of watching “Baz Luhrman’s biopic of her former husband’s life” was reliving his relationship with Colonel Tom Parker, and how Elvis wanted to take his career further than music.
When Parker became Elvis’s manager, he wanted to be involved with making movies rather than just handling publicity. Costello describes how this was hard because she lived it since she went from being Elvis’s girlfriend to his publicist after Parker left.
“I watched the movie,” she said, “and it brought back a lot of memories because I lived those arguments that they had, I lived Elvis trying to explain he didn’t want to do the movies with all the girls and beaches, that he wanted to do more serious things.

When she heard that Luhrmann was planning to direct, Presley invited him to her home for about four hours where she met with him. She said she was unsure how their meeting went, but she felt more at ease by the end of it.

What scenes were hard for her to watch about “Elvis”?
Priscilla Presley told TODAY her belief that Elvis is gaining in popularity with a new generation. Part of the reason may be because she opened Graceland to the public, which had previously exclusively been privately accessed.
The general manager of the Graceland Hotel said Elvis is still an important figure to many people. About 30,000 attended a vigil for him on November 18, 2016.
Elvis, who was drafted into the Army at the age of 24 met Priscilla, who was 14 years old at the time. The two met at a party near an Army base in Germany and eight years later married and had one daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
The couple divorced after 6 years of marriage in 1973 but remained close. They did not remarry after their divorce.
Graceland is experiencing an increase in younger visitors who are discovering Elvis’s music on streaming platforms.
Elvis has always been able to attract fans. Younger generations are still drawn toward him nearly 45 years after his passing. I think he will always be a big deal.
